In order to prepare for First Communion, children must attend religious education classes for two years (not including kindergarten). Usually this is first and second grade. However, we usually have special classes for children in other grades.
Children that have completed their preparation for receiving Christ in the Eucharist will make their First Communion in April or May. Families have two options for celebrating their child’s First Communion:
- Children may make their First Communion during one of the regular weekend Masses during the Easter season.
- Or children may make their First Communion as part of a large group during one of two First Communion Masses. In 2009, the First Communion Masses will be on April 18 at 10:00 AM and at 1:00 PM.
